Marie Josephine Agnes Edwards (19 December 1882 - 15 February 1965) was the daughter of James Andrew Edwards and Kate Marion Agnes MacNamara. Through her marriage to Lieutenant-Colonel Lord Herbert Andrew Montagu Douglas Scott, Marie became a paternal aunt to HRH Princess Alice, Duchess of Gloucester, and thereby a maternal grandaunt to HRH Prince William of Gloucester and HRH Prince Richard, Duke of Gloucester. She was the paternal great-grandmother of Sarah, Duchess of York, and the maternal second great-grandmother of HRH Princess Beatrice of York and HRH Princess Eugenie of York. ==Early Life, Marriage, & Family== Marie Josephine Agnes Edwards was born at Dovercourt, Essex on Tuesday, 19 December 1882, to James Andrew Edwards and his wife, Kate Marion Agnes MacNamara. According to a Herald (Scotland) obituary for her daughter Patricia Dundee, she was a niece of the music director and theatre manager George Edwardes (1855-1915).
